After long hours working, I want to take them to play not only by using their brains, but also using their brawns.

These are the summaries of the games and how to play them:

Ole….Ole….Ole…..

The idea for this game comes from a famous TV shows in Korea called: X-Man. I don’t know how they called this game in that show but since it involved soccer socks…..I just named it Ole…Ole…Ole…

To play this game, you need a team, at least 5 person (the more person in a team is the better…..well….the funnier too….). Ask the team member to hold on each other shoulders while trying to peel off the socks from their feet. The winner is the fastest one.

Lingo Pro

This game will test your ability to use English Idiom. Actually, not all of IS members prepare themselves well for this game. Some tried to cheat by looking for the answer through internet from their cell-phone. After unsuccessfully answer some questions, some members suggested to change the game name to : Idioms or Idiots?….he..he..he…

To play this game, each team must chose one of its member to answer the question for each round. Then, game master will read the question and each team representative must find the correct idiom to use. The words for idioms are cut and polled in a box. Those representatives must race to create the correct whole idiom sentence.

Super Blower

This game is also copied from a famous Korean TV Show called: Star Golden Bell.

What you need to play this game are: oil-control paper & Post It.

Each team member will get a sheet of oil-control paper to wipe their forehead and then they must put a Post It on their forehead. Each of them must blow hard to make the Post It fly from their forehead. After the first person succeed to do this, the second person in the team may start.

Caution: might makes you feel faint if you blow too hard….he…he…he….

Math Master

You’ll need to sharpen your math skill for this game. But before you can answer the questions, you must go around the room, hop over the chairs and pose. Well….the idea is to make you feel tired and unable to concentrate to answer even the most simple subtraction and addition question…..he…he…he…. <evil laugh from the game master>

Wet Look

This is the wet version of Ole…Ole….Ole….game. We did this game inside a kiddie pool.

UFO

Actually, this is the easiest game because you only need to throw 3 piece of disks into a set of boxes. Each box has different number which represent the points. Alas, most of IS member failed to get any point because they were greedy and tried to get the highest point and failed.

Detour

In this game, each member can choose to do 1 of 2 tasks, which is:

- answer LSAT questions & the questions are in English…or…

- answer LSAT questions & the questions are in Indonesian.

Final Round

In Final Round, each person must solve a mystery within specific time. Those who got the biggest points from previous games may start first.

The reason why we create this race was to facilitate our IS team in practicing their Analytical Thinking skill and we wanted this practice to be FUN. So, we adopt the TV Show: Amazing Race.

The IS Amazing Race is a race through the virtual world. This game is played by using the internet, email & blog.

Episode #1: Race to Pentagon

The clues for this episode was gathered from several sources. The most informative sources are the Pentagon website & National Geographic. While browsing more information about  Washington DC, I found The Spy Museum. I use the games from this web for several clue passwords.

Episode #2: The first Assigment

Most of the assignments were taken from LSAT (Law School Admission Test), especially the Analytical Reasoning & Logical Reasoning part.

Episode #3: The Water Cube

This episode was aired near the opening day of the Olympic Games. That’s why we chose to visit Beijing and it’s magnificent new buildings.

Episode #4: Roadblock Assignment

The questions for this assignment were also taken from LSAT.

Episode #5: Let’s go to Milan

Europe is one of my dream destinations and I’ve always wanted to travel by train in that continent. So, to satisfy my curiosity, I took all the racers to travel around Europe by train.

Episode #6: Uncut SPA Guide anyone?

The idea for the clue password is from the Da Vinci Code, especially, the anagram. You can learn more about it here.

Episode #7: Ice Hotel Rendezvous

In our daily work, sooner or later, each of IS member will get a project to finished. In my opinion, the first step to good project management is a good project plan. So, by using this episode, I wanted them to learn how to create a plan with limited time & budget, as well as, how to look for the right information. It’s really interesting & heart-warming to see the result of their effort. I wish I can get feedback from those who really try-out those itineraries. If any of you who follow this blog decide to take a chance on one of the itinerary, please tell me the result……will you?….. ^_^

Episode #8: Whose Receipts are these?

The inspiration for this episode came from an anime: Detective Conan. In one of its episodes, Conan & his friends were spending their free afternoon by guessing what other people will cook for their dinner by using the receipts they left at the supermarket. I got help from my fellow IS members who donate their groceries receipts.

Extracting information from those who have it is a skill that I hope you all learns while doing this week’s assignment.

These are the type of information that you must seek first:

1. The SSU IS members who are not competing in this race
2. Where do they live
3. Their shopping habits (when to shop, how to pay, shopping frequency, etc)
4. Their favorite food
5. The number of people in their house (single/married/married with children, etc)

There are 13 teams who compete in this race…..but for this week’s assignment….only 1 team can answer all the questions correctly.

Most of the team member who did this Roadblock assignment failed because:

• They don’t collect enough information and the assumptions that they use in making the analysis were too general (assuming that only women can buy “women’s stuffs”)
• They do collect information, but not from direct resource….therefore the quality of the information that they have is not good enough.

Please do remember, in the future, whenever you’re trying to solve a problem, before you do the analysis & use wrong assumptions, make sure that you get enough information from the correct source. If the source is a person, make sure that he/she is the expert or the one who has the right information.

In this assignment, I asked you to explain the reason why do you think receipt A belongs to XXX. Some of the team members can explain clearly. They can make intelligence link between the information they have and the final conclusion. For some others, they do need a lot of hard work to be able to achieve those level.

First of all, please forgive me for being late in announcing the race rank for this week.

Yesterday, I spent the whole day checking all of your itinerary one by one.

I’m really glad for the result that you’ve shown.

There are some protests regarding my comments about the location of the train station in Copenhagen.

The train station at the airport is called: københavns lufthavne

The train that goes to Almhult departs from the Central Station or København H

Those are two different stations.

Among 13 teams who compete in this race, only the Owner team realize this fact…..Bravo!

While for other teams who didn’t realize this, I let them pass successfully if they have enough time between their arrival time in Copenhagen Airport and their departure time from Copenhagen Central Station. My assumption is, if they have enough time, they will realize this slight mistake and still be able to reach their next destination on time.

Since this is a race, so the rank is based on who got to the meeting place first.

And the result for this week is:

According to this result, I will sent the next clue based on new schedule.

• Dinamyc Duo, Rossi, Twinkle & Owner will get their next clue at 12.00 today
• Naruto will get their next clue at 23.00 today  – because even though they complete the mission successfully, they create debts on their account so, they must pay it first.
• Sherlock Holmes, Capocanonieri, Nero & UmniCare wil get their next clue on Monday at 09.00 am
• The rest of the teams will get their next clue on Monday at 19.00

Kesimpulan:
Meskipun tim ini bisa sampai ke tempat tujuan pada hari H, namun karena tidak semua misi dikerjakan maka tim ini dinilai gagal menyelesaikan etape ini dengan sukses.

Kesimpulan:

Meskipun ada beberapa biaya yang tidak diperhitungkan, namun kalau diasumsikan mereka menempuh jarak tersebut dengan jalan kaki, waktu tempuhnya masih memungkinkan untuk dilakukan.
